About the Orange County Region
Orange County California is sandwiched in-between Los Angeles on the north and San Diego on the south, stretching from the Santa Ana Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. It encompasses several beautiful beach cities as well as the former citrus groves of the Anaheim area.
This region is densely populated and is the 6th most populous county in the United States. While primarily suburban, the region is home to many corporate headquarters including Ingram Micro, First American Corporation, Broadcom, Western Digital, Pacific Life, among others.
The economy has a strong tourism component as it is host to the famous Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm theme parks, as well as the Anaheim Convention Center.
California State University Fullerton and University of California Irvine lead a complement of institutions of higher education located in the area.
Several tribes of Native American peoples inhabited this region prior to the arrival of the Europeans in 1776, including the Tongva, Juaneno and Luiseno tribes.
